Suggested trail - From Portovenere to Riomaggiore
Portovenere is a small town in Liguria not far from the city of La Spezia. It is famous for its beautiful places: old castle, houses, churches and picturesque islands with numerous caves, such as Lord Byron’s grotto.
Together with Cinque Terre, (Monterosso, Vernazza, Manarola, Corniglia, Riomaggiore) this area is the site of world heritage.

The Infinity Trail: from Porto Venere to Riomaggiore
The Infinity Trail, is one of the most beautiful trails in Liguria. In around five and a half hours’ walk, passing through cultivated terraces and the Cinque Terre National Park, it connects Porto Venere to Riomaggiore, one of Liguria’s many picturesque villages.
For our guests, the route departs from the hotel where we are based.
The trail winds through Mediterranean scrub, woods and terraces, offering a beautiful hike suitable for everyone that can be enjoyed all year round.
Start: Portovenere
Finish: Riomaggiore
Route length: approx. 12.7 km; 7,9 miles
Duration: approx. 5½ hours
Difficulty: E,hiking
(Most routes in the Italian mountains are of this type. They cover all kinds of terrain (rocky areas, pastures, dirt tracks) and are usually well marked. The elevation change is typically over 500 metres, and any exposed sections are always secured and do not require specialised equipment. A good sense of orientation and adequate physical fitness are required.)
Useful tips
The Infinity Trail is a very beautiful route suitable for everyone, which can be done at any time of year, but it is long – very long.
We always remind you to set off on this route wearing suitable clothing and, above all, HIKING BOOTS! Although it is not a particularly difficult trail, it can be dangerous in places, especially on the downhill sections.
Always remember to take enough water with you, even though there are refreshment points along the route.
To return to Portovenere, take a boat and enjoy the sea and the ride.
