Italian-American history is filled with stories of labor, sacrifice, and perseverance. Fewer stories, however, show how deeply Italian immigrants shaped the very structure of American capitalism. One name stands above many others: Amedeo Peter Giannini.

The son of Italian immigrants, Giannini did not simply succeed in America—he changed how America worked. Roots in the Italian Immigrant Experience

Amedeo P. Giannini was born in 1870 in California to parents from Liguria. Like many Italian immigrants of the time, his family knew hardship, long hours, and uncertainty. After his father was killed, young Amedeo worked to help support his family, learning early the value of trust, community, and practical intelligence.

Those values would later become the foundation of a banking revolution.
